The fruit

The mango is a fleshy fruit with a round, oval or kidney shape. Its flesh is dark yellow, both creamy and sweet. In Hindi, aam means mango.

The mango is grown in all tropical countries but it is in India, in the Punjab, that we find the largest mango tree: 20 m high, 10 m in circumference with a production of 17,000 kg of mangoes per year!

The use of dried mango in cooking

Dried mango can be eaten as a snack throughout the day, tasty and sweet, it is enjoyed like a treat. Whether for athletes or to wait until the next meal, dried mango will be ideal.

With sugar

  • 140 g of flour;

  • 100 g of powdered sugar;

  • 80 g of hazelnut powder;

  • 100 g oatmeal;

  • 60 g of dried mango;

  • 20 g of hot water;

  • 80 g of chocolate chips;

  • 1 tsp lemon juice;

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda ;

  • 140 g of butter.

Preparation

  1. Mix the sugar, flour, hazelnut powder and oat flakes.

  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the water and the dried mango pieces then leave to cool.

  3. Then mix the two preparations as well as the baking soda and lemon juice.

  4. Make balls the size of a walnut and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  5. Bake for 15 minutes at 180°C until the biscuits are golden brown on the edges.

  6. Enjoy!

With salty

As an aperitif, offered with nuts such as pecans or cashews , they will be all the rage!

Dried mangoes may also be suitable for preparing dishes in sauce with meats such as pork, chicken or even duck breasts.

With drinks

Added to an infusion or a tea, dried mango will reveal its fruity notes for a two-in-one effect, since you can bite into it with delight after infusing it!

Do you know lassi? It is a drink that resembles a milkshake or smoothie and is consumed as a refreshment in India. Indians have the custom of serving this drink to their guests for breakfast or lunch.

To make this drink, you will first need to soak the mangoes in order to rehydrate them. Then mix them and add yogurt, a glass of milk and, for those who wish, a little sugar. There you go, your drink is ready!
